Stella Polaris Ltd was established in 1990 by Torbjørn Engen and Knut Westvig, 2 guys with a mutual interest in the outdoor life.  They are still in charge of the company and have built it up by combining Torbjørns background as Bachelor of Commerce and Knuts education at the Norwegian Academy of Sport and Outdoor Activity.

In 2005 the company employed Henry Johnsen as Sales Manager and as of today there are approx 20 part-time employees  working as guides, proving this to be an expanding business.

Stella Polaris arrange nature and culture based activities in and around Bodø and Lofoten

In addition there are daily excursions for passengers from "Hurtigruten" (Coastal Steamer) to the Maelstrom in 26 foot RIBS. (between 1st April and 31st October).
